Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week, Billboard taps chart-topping artists and tastemakers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. We give the artists free rein to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.
Ashley Tisdale just returned with her first album in 10 years, Symptoms, a nine-track LP dance-inspired tunes perfect for rolling the windows down and grooving. When she's not performing, filming her new Netflix show Merry Happy Whatever, or launching new make-up brushes through her beauty line Illuminate Cosmetics, Tisdale loves jamming in her car — and she dedicated her Takeover Tuesday playlist to the songs that blare through her speakers.
"These are the songs that take me to my happy place," Tisdale tells Billboard. Fittingly, her happy place includes several fellow badass females, like Maren Morris, Halsey, Demi Lovato, Ellie Goulding and Billie Eilish. She even gave Halsey two shout-outs ("Without Me" and "Ghost") on her 17-track playlist, also giving rising pop singer bülow two nods with "Not A Love Song" and "You & Jennifer."
Tisdale also hints at the dance artists that may have influenced the production on Symptoms, with Marshmello's Chvrches collab "Here With Me," Zedd's Hailee Steinfeld and Grey track "Starving," and The Chainsmokers' Daya-featuring smash "Don't Let Me Down" also making her playlist. But a "Car Jams" playlist wouldn't be complete without a few throwbacks, so Tisdale included Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now," David Bowie's "Under Pressure" and ELO's "Livin' Thing" too.
