Miley Cyrus is up to…something. The singer has been talking about her upcoming album for a while now, and on Thursday (May 16), she posted the latest teaser under the #SheIsComing, further confusing, and exciting Smilers.
The brief video opens with the word "She," followed by an image a bee pollinating a flower, then "Is," followed by a burst fireworks, and, finally, "Coming," accompanied by a whale shooting water out its blowhole. The entire phrase then flashes across the screen along with the date May 30.
Cyrus did nothing to explain herself — and a spokesperson for the singer had not returned Billboard's request for comment at press time — fering only a series water drop emoji to accompany the cryptic tease. Fan reactions swung from "we love some code!!" to "these visuals confuse me" and "*Miley's Voice* WHAT DOES IT MEAN????"
Thursday's video was a follow-up to an earlier, headache-inducing tease with the same phrase posted last week. What we do know is that the pop singer has been working on her follow-up to 2017's Younger Now, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Last Thursday, she posted a picture with the caption, "just played the record for iHeartRadio and they fucking flipped and so will you!"
Earlier this year, she gave a hint things to come during an interview for Most Requested Live with Romeo. “ Me and producer] Mark Ronson] have worked on a bunch songs on my next record, so I was kind just in this creative space," she said.
Finally, at the Met Gala, Cyrus teased a chunk a song believed to be titled "Bad Karma." Neither Miley nor her label have revealed the title or release date for her seventh album.
