Is Charlie Puth the Biggest ‘Friends’ Fan Ever? Courteney Cox Puts Singer to the Test For ‘Quizzed’: Watch

Charlie Puth is no stranger to covering a great song: there’s Sia’s “Chandelier,” for instance, or Shawn Mendes“In My Blood.” And now, there is Phoebe Buffay’s “Smelly Cat.” But what inspired him to cover such an iconic track? For any Friends fans out there who, like Puth, just can’t get enough the Central Perk gang, this one’s for you: “The One Where Charlie Puth Gets Starstruck.”

In Billboard’s new video series “Quizzed,” musical artists are put to the fandom test as they sit down with the stars their favorite television shows and films to see just how well they hold up in these tri showdowns. In this week’s installment, Charlie Puth sits down with Monica Geller herself, Courteney Cox, to prove whether or not he is worthy taking home the coveted Geller Cup (and earning Cox’s approval as the No. 1 Friends fan), while also covering a few memorable songs from the show.

Playing the game in three rounds, Puth is first asked to answer true or false questions, such as whether or not Monica’s biggest pet peeve is people chewing with their mouths open or if Joey’s stuffed penguin was named Waddles. Plus, he reveals which scene in the show gives him chills whenever he watches it.

Round two consists general tri, as Puth is asked questions such as which book Joey kept in his freezer because it scared him, what Rachel dressed up as to get Joshua’s attention at Emily’s going away party, and what kind medical pressional Dr. Drake Ramoray was.

In the third and final round, Puth is asked to name who said some famous Friends quotes. During that round, Cox confesses that one her favorite lines from the entire show was from the hilarious scene when Monica and Phoebe were discussing a cookie recipe, and Phoebe kept saying it was passed down from her great grandmother in France, Nestlé Toulouse, when in fact, it was from Nestlé Toll House.

Ultimately, Puth does remarkably well in this episode “Quizzed,” earning himself a Geller Cup trophy, complete with his name listed on the bottom as the 2019 winner.

Make sure you watch the video to the very end, as Puth also grabs a keyboard and serenades Cox with the Friends theme song, The Rembrandts’ “I'll Be There for You.”

To celebrate 25 years Friends, The Rembrandts’ version the track was recently used to light up the tallest building in the world (the Burj Khalifa in Dubai), as the Dubai Fountains were programmed and choreographed to the music. Meghan Trainor, who is also a huge fan the show, covered the song, as well, and it was used to light up the Empire State Building. Plus, the London Metropolitan Orchestra recorded the ficial 25th anniversary instrumental version the song, which was recorded, mixed and mastered entirely at Abbey Road, and produced by Giles Martin.
