Charlotte Lawrence Boldly Declares ‘Joke’s On You’ in New Single Off ‘Birds of Prey’ Soundtrack: Listen

"Joke's On You" because Charlotte Lawrence is done playing the fool, but her fans can play her new single out today (Jan. 17) from Birds Prey: The Album, the all-female accompanying soundtrack Margot Robbie's highly-anticipated Birds Prey film.

Tip-toeing behind Normani and Megan Thee Stallion's joint gem a song "Diamonds", "Joke's On You" has the modern swagger  Lesley Gore's No. 2 Hot 100 hit "You Don't Own Me" and talks about taking back control in her toxic relationship.

Lawrence paints a messy picture with her words — a dragged cigarette with its smoke on her lips, bruised knees from kneeling to her former significant other and ruined makeup set the scene within the first verse — before twisting the tortured subject from being herself to being her ex.

"The joke's on you/ The joke's on you/ God knows I've tried to be kind/ But I won't just lay down and die/ Wearing a fake smile/ The joke's on you," Lawrence's breathy vocals threaten in the chorus with haunting harmonies echoing in the background.

The ficial music video for "Joke's On You" will be released Feb. 7, the same date when the entire soundtrack and the movie itself is out to the public.
